“In 2018, at the beginning of June, I ran out of the Atlantic Ocean in Namibia.
“It was just insane, it was desert, it was 35 degree heat, there was no shade. I was camping, I was stripped of luxuries.
“But that didn’t matter, because the sunrise and sunsets, and the wildlife - it was just incredible.”
Brendan Rendall, talking there about the epic coast-to-coast run he did across Africa, is just one of many extraordinary runners we have featured on the Running Tales Podcast.
Myself - Craig Lewis - and my wife, Michelle, are now extending the podcast here: into the world of Substack.
Running Tales aims to tell the extraordinary stories of everyday runners, like Brendan.

There are so many wonderful and inspiring stories in the world of running - and we wanted to give as many of them as possible the publicity they deserve.
Now we are looking to do the same through the medium of ‘print’ rather than purely audio.
Running Tales - the written word
Over recent years, we’ve loved hearing people’s amazing and inspirational stories, and bringing them to an audience via the podcast.
But we want to expand that - not only in terms of articles giving more details, and including a host of pictures, on our podcast guests, but also via a series of stories looking at some of the big issues in the running world.
This is a wonderful podcast focusing on those everyday people that otherwise would go completely unheard of.
Normal everyday people doing incredible things with a common ground of running.

From topics such as how to avoid injury when running to conversations about the safety of running early in the morning we aim to provide unique, nuanced and interesting content - and we want you to tell us what we should be talking about.
