Welcome to Running Tales
Running Tales exists for one purpose: to tell the extraordinary stories of everyday runners.
There are so many wonderful and inspiring stories in the world of running - and we want to give as many of them as possible the publicity they deserve.
This Substack newsletter, ‘Running Tales: After all is said and run,’ is just part of our offering, which also includes the Running Tales Podcast, our YouTube channel and a host of social media platforms.
More about all of that in a minute, but you’re here for the newsletter…
Running Tales - the written word
Michelle and I started Running Tales purely as a podcast, and we loved hearing people’s amazing and inspirational stories, and bringing them to an audience via the airwaves.
But we wanted to expand on that, and so this Substack was born.
In it, we not only write up in-depth stories based on our podcast conversations, but also include articles looking at some of the big issues in the running world.
From topics such as how to avoid injury when running to conversations about the safety of running early in the morning we aim to provide unique, nuanced and interesting content.
If it sounds clever or complicated, it’s not. We like running and we write about it… that’s it!

So much more than a newsletter
Running Tales started life as a podcast in March 2020, with the aim of speaking to runners about what the sport meant to them, without getting obsessed with stats, Vo2 Max or the latest, greatest trainers on the market.
In 2024, the Running Tales Podcast became part of Run, Tri, Bike magazine's Everyday Athlete Podcast Network, with episodes broadcast live across their Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. These original live shows come out on Tuesdays at 5pm GMT.
Those same episodes are then published in podcast form on Spotify, Apple and a host of other leading platforms every Thursday.
The Everyday Athlete Podcast Network is also home to the following brilliant podcasts, all found in one place:
The Fireside Chats with Jason Bahamundi and Aum Gandhi
Food Fight At the Aid Station with Community Trail Running
Caffeinated Coaching with Lori Hauck
Beyond the Finish Line with Joe Hardin
Fiery Embers
What’s in your Earbuds with Aum Gandhi and Joe Hardin
We also have our own Running Tales YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.
We’ve linked to the all the relevant platforms within this About Page, but you can also find everything in the tabs at the top of this website.
