As Steve Edwards closes in on 1,000 marathons, Running Tales looks at the marathoners who have already reached that target and how counting races is a complex art
Where is the list of mega-runners? I won't be on it for a long time... probably around 55 years old but I will be someday and want to know where to go. I run about 20 races a year but will be toning it down after race #110 to 10-12 a year so I can actually save for retirement.
Looks like mostly USA and Canada. I do almost all of my running in Japan because thats where I live. My events do meet the criteria for marathon maniac inclusion so hopefully that wont be a problem when the time comes.
There is different criteria in different countries around what constitutes a race (in Germany, runners can basically organise their own events!) which i think Is why some countries end up with more people on the list.
You should definitely be good with how races are organised in Japan.

It hasn’t been updated for 2024 yet.
Good luck with the marathons!

Thanks again.
