Running Tales: After all is said and run - some changes to this newsletter
Nothing major folks, just a few tweaks and morphing some features into to Chat
Hi folks, hope you’re all well and getting your run on!
We just wanted to drop you a quick note today to talk about some changes to this newsletter.
Over the last few months we have added more features and having conducted an audit (hark at us!) of the site can see that the format has become a bit more busy.
The main thing we noticed is that some of the features would probably be more suitable for Chat or Notes, rather than on the main site.
This would also give us more time to concentrate on better long-form, in-depth articles: the kind we hope you really like!
So, as far as the main site goes the plan for the future is to publish one free weekly article and one paid for bi-weekly article.
The aim is for both of these regular pieces to be high quality, thought provoking and either inspiring or just plain interesting (or both!).
The somewhat irregular articles we do based on our podcast episodes will therefore become weekly pieces, published every Thursday. Whereas these have previously been paid for articles as part of our monthly or annual subscription models, they will be free to all subscribers in the future.
We will then be publishing a specialised article behind a paywall every two weeks on a Tuesday, starting on August 8.
This may initially sound like a reduction in content, but the plan is to make these stand-out articles more regular, giving our free subscribers access to more high-quality work while maintaining a strong flow of premium content for paid subscribers.
On that note, we would really appreciate your backing as a paid subscriber or, if you feel our work has value, please ‘buy us a coffee’ to help us keep both this newsletter and the podcast going. Thank you.
We mentioned earlier about switching some of our current content to the Chat and Notes functions, and that is definitely part of the plan.
In future, the five favourite articles/podcasts etc feature will be broken down into individual recommendations as we come across them.
We will also post the link to our latest podcast every week, and any ‘we’ve been out running’ ramblings and thoughts will also continue on those parts of the platform.
If you haven’t already accessed our Chat community, check out the notes at the bottom of this article to find out how to do so.
Having said all of this, if anyone is reading this now and thinking ‘that sounds terrible’ or we really liked things as they were, then please let us know.
This is your newsletter and we like to think of Running Tales as a community, so we want to hear what you think.
Happy reading, and keep an eye out for our next feature article on Henry Morris, aka The Secret Tory - it’ll be with you next Thursday.
Happy running,
Craig & Michelle
It’s good to talk: How to access the Chat community
Our podcasts try to create a chatty atmosphere, but they’re only ever one person at a time - and we’d like to hear from more of you about your running, what you think of our articles and, if the mood hits you that way, life in general.
That’s why we run the ‘Running Tales: After all is said and run’ subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app set up exclusively for subscribers - kind of like a group chat or live hangout.
We’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates and you can jump into the discussion.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android.
Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications to avoid missing the conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
