Project 16:15 Charity Run to raise money for rough sleepers to return in 2024
The lapped event will take place at Northampton's Racecourse on March 23 with runners able to run whatever distance they prefer
Back by popular demand - and, this time, with medals.
Running Tales’ Project 16:15 Charity Run will be returning in 2024 with the goal of raising more vital funds to support rough sleepers on the streets of Northampton.
Last year's inaugural event saw runners raise more than £1,000 for Project 16:15 - money which made a huge difference to the lives of rough sleepers in the town.
Talking about the formation of Project 16:15, Stan Robertson from the charity, said: “It was started to deliver to people what I felt was missing on the streets: dignity, self-respect, value and worth.
“People living on the streets didn’t understand they were worth anything in life, and their lives were focused daily on their situation and their circumstance.
“I wanted to give them a reason to wake up in the morning, and a reason to think they could do more and be more than where they were at.”
Stan told Running Tales: “To me, awareness is more important than money.
“We want to educate people, make them aware of the humanity of homelessness. I’ve said many times that there is humanity behind every blanket.
“But all too often rough sleepers only get the help and recognition they deserve when it is too late.”
This year, the event will return on Saturday, March 23 between 8am and 2pm. Once again, it will last six hours, with people running for as little or as much of that time as they want.
It will cost just £10 to enter with every penny raised going to the charity. In return, entrants will get a Project 16:15 Charity Run medal - regardless of how far they've run on the day.
Alternatively, people can fundraise. Anyone who raises at least £20 will not have to pay for entry and will automatically get a medal for the event.
There is a generic Project 16:15 Charity Run 2024 JustGiving page which can people can donate to directly or pay their £10 entry into to (please indicate whether your payment is an entry fee). It can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/fun-run2024
Alternatively, if you want to start fundraising yourself, you can create your own fundraising page by clicking on the orange 'Start Fundrasing' tab on that main page. Your fundraising page will then be linked to the main page.
If people want to set up their own pages then that would also be also be amazing.
Timings for the 16:15 Charity Run will again overlap with parkrun with anyone who takes part in that event eligible to claim entry to the Project 16:15 Charity Run (as long as they either pay their £10 entry fee or raise at least £20 through fundraising).
There will be an aid station with food and drinks provided by Project 16:15.
The 16:15 Charity Run will not be a race, and there will be no winner. Instead, it will be a chance to run with friends, chat and think about those who are less fortunate than we are.
Running Tales is proud to once again be helping to run this vital event in partnership with Project 16:15 and Step Forward With Lewis.
