The podcast:
As we said above, this week we were honoured to speak to the brilliant Rachel Ann Cullen.
Rachel has run a host of marathons, including London six times, but can now be most often found trail running across Yorkshire.
It's part of her ever evolving running story, which saw the sport transform her life completely.
Suffering from bi-polar disorder and struggling to find her place in the world, Rachel found healing when she laced up her trainers.
That incredible story is told in her first book, 'Running for my Life'.
We spoke to Rachel about her journey, and her most recent book, 'Running for our Lives' which tells the stories of everyday runners overcoming extraordinary adversity.
You can buy all three of Rachel's books - 'Running for my Life,' 'A Midlife Cyclist' and 'Running for our Lives' - on Amazon.
And you can find Running Tales at www.runningtales.podbean.com and wherever you listen to your podcasts.
If you enjoy what you hear, please give us a rating or review - thank you.
Substack:
In case you’ve missed our latest Substack stories, we explored how and why strength training is so important for runners.
While adding tempo runs, long runs, hills or Fartlek to your training plan will help your speed, endurance and efficiency, it is strength training which so often helps people reach their goals - read our article to find out more.
We also spoke to Steve Edwards about his role as an ambassador at the new Every Run Counts project.
Steve, dubbed ‘The Man Inside the Machine’ for his efforts to become the first person to run 1,000 official marathons in an average time of under three hours 30 per race, revealed how the new app and website is aimed at getting people fitter and healthier, both physically and mentally.
