We're off to the National Running Show
Come and say hello if you will be around at the NEC on Saturday, January 21
We’re going to the National Running Show.
I know, that’s verging on some organised running-related geekery. The sort some kind of professional outfit would get up to.
But don’t panic dear listeners. Michelle and I will be visiting Birmingham NEC on Saturday, January 21 purely in the guise of visitors.
I know, I hear you say, you should be up on stage! (Or more likely, hidden away out the back, putting the chairs out for the stars of the show).
But for now, you’ll have to continue to catch us on the podcast - unless of course you feel like coming over and seeing hi as we wonder around.
In case you are wondering here is what we generally look like - based on our last running selfie…
Considering we’re likely to be running a parkrun (probably Cannon Hill) before heading to Brum, we’ll probably look similarly sweaty and tired at the NEC!
In all seriousness, if you’re heading to the National Running Show or Cannon Hill parkrun on that Saturday then we’d love to see you and say hello.
If we’re organised enough we’ll be wearing our Running Tales or Step Forward With Lewis tops, so hopefully we’ll be easy to spot (among the other thousands of runners wearing running tops 🤔).
We’re also planning to live blog what we see on our Twitter page, so hopefully they’ll be some cool nuggets of information from what will be a host of excellent speakers and stands at the show.
Hope to see you there… or on social media!
Craig & Shell 🏃🏃♀️
This week on…
The podcast:
Yesterday saw the return of the Running Tales Podcast for Series 3.
Craig spoke to Tony Collier, who also appeared on the show in Series 2, about the completion of his latest challenge.
Diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, Tony - whose running achievements included completing all six marathon majors and the 55-mile Comrades Ultra Marathon in South Africa - had been determined to keep on running.
We covered Tony’s full story in our article, "Just live life to the full and love every minute of it".
Since his diagnosis, Tony has completed a number of challenges for charity, including recently finishing a run streak of at least 5km every day in 2022.
He explained how getting out every day had been “utterly relentless” and the hardest thing he’s ever done.
We could think of no better person to kick off Series 3 of the podcast.
Substack:
In case you missed it, you might want to check out our article from earlier this week here on Substack.
We had a look at how setting out planned goals is a far better strategy than jumping on the New Year’s Resolution bandwagon.

We just wanted to take a moment to ask all our wonderful listeners to take some time out to give us a review and a rating wherever you listen to Running Tales.
Positive reviews mean the podcast gets seen by a wider audience, so the more we get then the more people get to listen to the inspiring stories of our guests.

Your running this week:
Whether you have a big race coming out, an important milestone or are just out for a run round your local area, we’d love to hear what you’re up to.
Just let us know in the comments below.
We need to sneak in a ten-mile training run sometime leading up to or at the weekend, but have the extra complication that it’s Michelle’s birthday. Wish us luck!
