Running Tales hits 100 podcast episodes!
Plus our usual round-up including how his Parkinson's diagnosis pushed Gary Shaugnessy to greater feats and our chat with trail runner Kim Levinsky
Hey all, we hope you had a great Easter and an as-good-as-it-can-possibly-be return to the world of work!
At Running Tales, we hit a huge milestone this week when we published our 100th podcast episode.
You can find out more about our landmark chat with trail runner Kim Levinsky in our usual weekly round-up below, but we just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all those who have come on the podcast, listened to it and shouted about it since we launched in those strange, dim and distant early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
You’re amazing ❤️
The aim of the pod has always been to tell the stories of those runners who don’t normally get mentioned by those publications which focus on perfect form, the best trainers or who won what race.
Over those 100 episodes we have spoken to everyone from parkrunners to Olympians, to those who have raised thousands of pounds for charity and people who have used running to help them take on mental health issues, cancer, Parkinson’s, addiction and the loss of a child.
These people are all heroes and we’d encourage you to listen to their stories.
Thanks for joining us on the journey through our first 100 episodes - here’s to many more to come.
Craig and Michelle

The podcast:
This week’s Running Tales Podcast guest was Kim Levinsky, a trail and ultra runner who is currently plotting how to complete the 358-mile Long Path in New York.
Starting from the 175th Street Subway Station in New York City, crossing George Washington Bridge and running across the Catskills all the way to Albany, the Long Path combines woods, a series of 2,900 foot peaks, and trails that pass lakes and streams - it is a beautiful and challenging route.
Kim, who recently completed the Tahoe 200, is hoping to achieve a supported fastest known time on the route.
Running Tales spoke to Kim about everything from nutrition to why she is taking on the challenge, as well as her role as a race director with Sassquad Trail Running...
Substack:
Our main story this week looked at how successful executive and fitness fanatic, Gary Shaughnessy, had his world turned upside down in 2015 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
Gary thought he would never run again - but he couldn’t have been more wrong.
Since his diagnosis, he has completed a host of marathons - including recording a new personal best - and the ‘hardest triathlon in the world’.
You can read Gary’s inspiring story in full here: How one man's Parkinson's diagnosis inspired him to his greatest running achievements
