Go and dance in the rain (before or after running in it!)
Run like the Marathon Man and love every moment
When it’s cold, icy and work is lurking on the horizon, the thought of going out for a run doesn’t always jump to the top of our minds.
Rather another 15 minutes in bed and a coffee before facing the day.
And what if that run is a marathon after you’ve already completed the 26.2 mile distance more than 300 times in as many days?
For us mere mortals, the very thought is foreboding but for Gary McKee - the Marathon Man - it’s just another day in 2022.
Gary has challenged himself to run a marathon every day this year in order to raise £1m for cancer charities.
Speaking on the Running Tales podcast, he explained how it is the thought of cancer patients dancing in the rain after getting the all-clear that helps him get out in all weathers.

Talking to Gary was a great way to bring Running Tales to a close for 2022.
I’ve really enjoyed talking to a range of people this year, from those who’ve completed incredible long-distance challenges, to others who have raised huge amounts for charity or overcome health and personal issues.
I’ve also been privileged to turn some of those stories into written pieces for this platform in recent months.
The podcast will be back on January 10 next year in what will be Series 3, and I hope you’ll join Michelle and I then.
In the meantime, embrace the bad weather, worship the cold, enjoy those dark nights - there are people out there who’s only wish is to see another one or to dance in the rain.
Have a great Christmas and New Year,
Craig
Running homelessness out of town
Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to read about our plans to hold a six hour running event in Northampton next year to raise money for rough sleeper charity, Project 16:15.
If not, check out our article here or read on for some basic details.
Step Forward With Lewis - Michelle’s fitness business - came up with the idea of holding the run at the town’s Racecourse.
We spoke to Stan Robertson at Project 16:15, and have made an application to West Northamptonshire Council for the event to take place from 8am to 2pm on May 20, 2023.
The idea is people can fundraise, or give a donation, to take part for as little or much of the six hours as they like, with money raised going to Project 16:15.
This will not be a race, Instead, it will be a chance to chat with friends and think about those less fortunate than we are.
And to raise as much money as we possibly can.
