Humankind’s collective addiction to scrolling through endless pictures to the detriment of their mental health is well documented. The freeing joy of going for a run in the countryside it is not.
We even wrote a whole article, drawing on the expertise of ‘get off social media’ guru
looking at the 'compare and despair' nature of some online content.But there are some rather brilliant reels and posts present among the muck and mire of Zukerberg’s picture palace.
And every now and then we like to bring them to you.

Practical green running advice:
This post from the Green Runners and member Peter Edwards demonstrates a really simple way to tell a story about both running and the environment, which - after all - is their mission.
As well as tracking Peter’s running journey since the 1980’s, it mixes in some really practical ways to be environmentally friendly while avoiding the risk of coming across as preachy.
It’s a neat way of combining someone’s running tale (you may have noticed how that’s a concept we like here!) with a cause.

What type of rest day runner are you?:
Rest day. Two little words that can tax the mind of the most conscientious runner.
People have been driven to run streaks for less.
But as this post from Dr Andrew Reheisse, aka @therunnersfix, shows we all have our individual ways of approaching rest days.
For the record, type four is the correct and only answer, and I will die on that hill/extra run!

It’s worth reproducing in full; after all there’s not much else to say:
“When we were kids, we lied on the dock after swimming. We lied in the sun, and the water lapped, the birds sang, and the soft summer light moved through the clouds.
When I am overwhelmed, I do it now. It’s good to be still in this spiralling world, to connect with the long time of a life.
Summer here is nice, like the stuff of legend where punk kids ride bicycles and get in lakes and adults grill food and wild loons holler.
I’m so grateful I was born to this place. There’s nothing like it anywhere. It’s as close to peace as I have experienced. If you know, you know.”
